The thing with decorating is that I've read/heard that if you have pretty decorative stuff you're less likely to cover it with clutter. Not sure how accurate that is, buuuut having a nicely decorated place has been a goal of mine for a long time. Or at the very bare minimum, just having furniture that matches. It's difficult to imagine putting half my rent or even more than my rent towards a single item buuut that's something I'm just going to have to do at some point.

A friend has been unemployed for 3 months. He had an interview yesterday and both his cars broke down with no money to repair them. He ran out of money. He is a single man with no dependents, around 30, has a good degree, worked for most of it and has had decent salaries. I told him he should have at least 6 months worth of money saved up, if not 12. I already downcasted my expectation for him. He did NOT receive that well. He was like what on earth kind of job do you do and started attacking me.
