I was with a guy for all of my young adult life. Over the years things had gotten not so great. I was in denial about this. 7 years in (and six months married) I felt like that was just how relationships were. So many married people talk about “compromise” and having to “work at” a relationship. I thought that is what I was doing. In truth that was ALL I was doing. I was also very complacent. I tiptoed around ideas and didn’t voice opinions I knew would be fought.

If you go into any famous chef's house I'll bet you $1000 there is a microwave somewhere. They're a useful piece of kitchen gear, even if you cook from scratch a lot. Do you NEED one? Probably not. But being able to melt, defrost, reheat, etc. quickly can be super helpful. If your shift manager at a grocery store wears khakis and a polo, a business suit just looks so out of place and like you are trying to assert some kind of dominance. The rule of thumb is to dress for the position directly above your own for an interview. Then you will be dressed better than expected for the position but not overdoing it.
