Honestly, just go with the principle that any direction is better than no direction. I've done probably ten different workout programs in my life and they all work. You don't need to know why you're doing what you're doing, because before you do it you'll never really understand. Commit to a program and just do that, and complete it. If you think you don't like it, do a different one. I personally will suggest beachbody.com (paid) or the Nike Training Club app (free) for good at home workout programs for a super reasonable price.
