My best friend married a woman and he soon found out she was a raging alcoholic. Being the super loving and supportive husband/man that he is/was, he sank a lot of money into treatment for her. He'd drive her to meetings and to a counselor and made a big effort to really help her out, even if it meant a bit of a hands off approach. At the end of it and nearly penniless, they had a big talk and she had found out, in therapy, the root cause of everything. She admitted to herself and finally to him that she was lesbian. My heart broke when he called me to tell me all while he was crying. He has since remarried and moved on to have kiBuy it: ds and a fairly happy life. But, it bothered him so much, that I know it's damaged him, mentally.

A friend has been unemployed for 3 months. He had an interview yesterday and both his cars broke down with no money to repair them. He ran out of money. He is a single man with no dependents, around 30, has a good degree, worked for most of it and has had decent salaries. I told him he should have at least 6 months worth of money saved up, if not 12. I already downcasted my expectation for him. He did NOT receive that well. He was like what on earth kind of job do you do and started attacking me. Learn that life is just a time line of events, except that the events occurring can be manipulated and that would change the events occurring in the future.
